The methods of protection involve the use of solid membranes or coatings that can be applied via brush, roller, or other techniques, ensuring the structure remains dry and free from moisture damage.
In the majority of Australian states, obtaining a waterproofing license is mandatory to adhere to the applicable regulations and standards. Specifically, in NSW, individuals performing residential waterproofing work, including on strata properties, with a value exceeding $5000 in labor and materials, must possess a waterproofing license. This license verifies compliance with regulatory authorities, helping to avert penalties or fines. Additionally, it permits the legal promotion of services and the ability to enter into contracts or tenders, often leading to higher earnings compared to those without a license.
To get the licence, you need to meet the minimum requirements in your state. For example, in NSW, here are the steps to becoming a licensed builder:
Get your qualification qualified with Skillqualified.
Undertake construction induction training and obtain a White Card.
Apply to Fair Trading NSW for your building and construction licence.
You must have a licence before you can do any residential building work in NSW, that is valued at more than $5000 in labour and materials (incl GST).
You must complete at least one of the following building and construction qualifications:
-CPC31420 (current) Certificate III in Construction Waterproofing, or
-CPC31411 / CPC31408 Certificate III in Construction Waterproofing, or
-BCG31403 Certificate III in Waterproofing (General Construction), or
Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) is the regulator and issuing body for building trade licences in QLD. You must have a licence before you do any residential building and construction work in QLD that is valued at more than $33000 (incl GST) in labour and materials.
Any one of the following—
(a) Certificate III in Construction Waterproofing CPC31420;
(b) a recognition certificate as a qualified waterproofer;
(c) successful completion of a course the commission considers is at least equivalent to a course mentioned in paragraph (a).
Victorian Building Authority (VBA) is the regulator and issuing body for building trade licences in VIC. You must have a licence before you do any residential building and construction work in VIC that is valued at more than $5000 (incl GST) in labour and materials.

You must complete the following building and construction qualifications:
-Certificate III in Construction Waterproofing (CPC31411 or CPC31420)
