About

A tile is a slender slab that can be regularly or irregularly shaped, crafted from materials such as fired clay, molded concrete, ceramics, natural substances, or similar materials. The practice of wall and floor tiling involves affixing these tiles to either the interior or exterior surfaces of a structure for practical or aesthetic purposes. This type of work encompasses the use of various tile materials, including cork, linoleum, rubber, or thermoplastics, and may also involve waterproofing areas in preparation for tiling, creating mosaics, conducting minor surface repairs and preparations, and installing expansion joints prior to tiling.

Why do I need the licence ?

In many Australian states, possessing a wall and floor tiling license is mandatory for compliance with local regulations and standards. For instance, in NSW, to undertake any residential wall and floor tiling projects, including those within strata properties, with a value exceeding $5000 in labor and materials, a license is required. Having this license ensures adherence to the standards set by regulatory authorities, helping to prevent any potential penalties or fines. Additionally, it allows for the legal promotion of your services and the ability to enter into contracts or tenders, often leading to higher earnings compared to those without a license in wall and floor tiling.
