SafeWork NSW outlines that individuals seeking a demolition license must possess the necessary industry knowledge and experience, in addition to completing 11 specific units from the following qualifications:
1) CPC30420 – Certificate III in Demolition, and
2) CPC41020 – Certificate IV in Demolition.
The required units of study include:
– Planning and preparing for demolition site activities,
– Reading and interpreting plans and specifications,
– Selecting and utilizing small plant and equipment for demolition tasks, which requires prior completion of a unit on applying OHS requirements, policies, and procedures in the construction industry,
– Demolishing small buildings and structures with hand tools and small plant equipment,
– Identifying hazards on demolition sites and implementing risk management strategies,
– Choosing and operating tools and equipment for hot work in the demolition sector,
– Handling demolition recyclable and waste materials with load shifting equipment,
– Overseeing individual activities on demolition sites,
– Planning and overseeing demolition work to reduce environmental and public health and safety impacts,
– Managing occupational health and safety in the building and construction workplace, and
– Concluding demolition activities and managing the property handover process.
